Professor Kamal Mellahi

University of Warwick, Warwick Business School

Kamel Mellahi is a Professor of Strategic Management, and Head of the Strategy and International Business Group, at Warwick Business School, The University of Warwick. He received his Ph.D. from The University of Nottingham, and a Licence in management sciences from the University of Algiers. Kamel is a world leading scholar in the fields of strategy and international business. He has co-edited or co-authored five books and published over 70 scholarly articles in the most prestigious scholarly journals in the fields of strategy and international business such as Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Academy of Management Perspectives, and Journal of International Business Studies. His research interests include non-market strategy, talent management, management in the MENA region, and business strategy in emerging markets. He is the (co)Editor-in-Chief of the British Academy of Management journal –  International Journal of management Reviews. He runs workshops for major private and public sector companies and government agencies on a range of topics including organisational excellence, strategy development, international business strategy, and strategy implementation.


 

Dr. Florence Eid

Founder and Chief Economist of Arabia Monitor

Dr. Florence Eid, formerly Head of MENA research at JP Morgan, is the Founder and Chief Economist of Arabia Monitor. Dr. Eid has been Professor of Economics and Finance at the American University of Beirut and visiting professor at INSEAD and HEC Paris. She has worked with the World Bank on Latin American and North Africa as well as on the buy side as a hedge fund investment professional. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Arab Banking Corporation International Bank in London and has been a Trustee of the American University in Paris as well as a Patron of the Contemporary Arts Society in London. Dr. Eid holds a Ph.D. in Organization Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).


Professor Meziane Lasfer,

Professor of Finance
Cass Business School, City University

Having gained a BSc in Accounting and Finance from Ecole Superieure de Commerce in Algiers, Meziane Lasfer won a scholarship towards a master’s degree and followed this up with Diploma in Accounting and Finance, MBA and PhD in Finance from the LSE and the University of Bath, UK. Meziane started as a research fellow in November 1990 at City University Business School. He was soon promoted to a personal chair. He has directed the Cass Business School PhD programme and MSc Finance course, and he was Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Transfer. He published widely in the areas of corporate finance and asset management and he is ranked amongst the top 20 top researchers in Europe and 2nd with a UK PhD*, and nominated for Economist Intelligence Unit Business Professor of the Year award in 2012. He teaches Finance courses to MBA, MSc and PhD students and to executives in the UK (e.g., Goldman Sachs, KPMG, Lloyds-TSB, Deloitte) and abroad (e.g., Thales - France, PT communicacos - Portugal, Kemira - Finland). His outstanding teaching performance led him to win the First Dean’s Prize for Teaching Excellence in 1998, and in 2003, 2006 and 2008. He was external examiner at London Business School, London School of Economics, Birmingham Business School and Cranfield School of Management. His previous and current visiting professor positions include HEC Paris, University Paris Dauphine, EDHEC Business School in Nice, and Catolica University in Lisbon.

Meziane’s research interests include dividend policy, capital structure, taxation, asset sales, corporate governance, managerial ownership, pension fund investments, trading by insiders and institutions, and fundamentals of stock returns. He has published widely in top international academic journals such as Journal of Finance, Journal of Finance and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Financial Management, European Financial Management, and National Tax Journal. His research was widely reported in the press and was sponsored by the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF), the Finance Lease Association (FLA), Morley Asset Management, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Donaldsons and Land Securities-Trillium. He is on the editorial board of a number of journals. He was an external consultant at the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
